3A Antonini was established in 1945 in Verona as a craft industry activity upon the initiative of three cousins who, having the same surname of Antonini, give their shoe factory the name 3A Antonini. In the mid 50’s, the 3A establishes itself as an industrial company and a leader in the footwear industry. During those years, the design and substance of the product was changed many times according to the taste and needs of the consumer. Such transformation was made possible by the use of advanced technologies and investment in individual professional capacities. All these factors contributed to the growth of the company having the following main objective: to produce top-quality shoes for the general public at an affordable price.
The 101 model. In the decade between the 60’s and 70’s, the company is engaged in the production of kid’s shoes, selling one million pairs of the historical model 101 in a single year at the turn of 1959 and 1960. A two-hole sandal has become the most famous sandal for children and a reference model for the Italian kid’s footwear.
In the 80’s, the first significant change occurred, given a lucky intuition of the emerging market opportunities. These are the origins of the Lumberjack brand that soon becomes a synonym of comfortable, resistant shoes suitable for any occasion. 3A Antonini was one of the first Italian shoe factories to believe that advertising is an instrument allowing the company to enhance its own brand, while relying on the use of testimonials and a series of advertising investments to make the Lumberjack brand, born as a synonym of uncontaminated nature, adventure and freedom, known in the world. The first years of the 80’s are the years when the north American footwear style took root in Italy. Boat shoes and the “giallone”, the historical yellow suede shoes with dark brown soft border, become successful Lumberjack products. The launch of the brand is accompanied by important investments in promotion because, as Ivo Antonini loved to repeat: “To known how to do it good is not enough, it is necessary to let the people know”. In the 80’s, the Lumberjack brand thus becomes a reference brand for the Italian casual shoes, starting a large-scale distribution.
